Universal Thermoplastics Level 1 Course: Intro To Thermoplastics For Mask And Head-making Limited Stock [q3O6uKCW]

Course Description: Ever wanted to know the ins and outs of designing and making masks and heads? If so, then this class is for you! Chris Takashima, owner and chief designer for Much Ado Tutus will take you through the process in this beginning-level "Everything You Need to Know" class!

The class will meet for one, very-full, exciting day at the Tutu.Com Costume Shop. In the first part of the class, Chris will walk you through all the details - What exactly are thermoplastics? Which type do you need for which project? Info on all the different types - Worbla, Thermoplastic Beads, Varaform, Clay Foam, EVA, and Craft Foam and how to use each. You will then work on some small projects so you can get the hang of working with the products.

• You will learn specifics like how to shape and build a form for the head you want to build
• How to heat, mold, and manipulate the various materials
• How to use common molds to add decoration
• Curing and treatments needed before and after painting
• Where to buy the materials and how to best store them

When you are finished with the intro class, you will know what you need to do to make your own projects - from simple headpieces and  props, to full Nutcracker and Rat King heads. This class includes two kits to take home and make - a Mouse Mask perfect for your Nutcracker mice, and a Magic Wand/Scepter.
